Because of Mr. Chris Cornell deciding to take his sweet-ass time finishing vocal tracks for the new post-Rage Against the Machine project, we're unable to begin pre-production for our next album in April as originally planned. Instead, we're going to make creative use of the time recording 4 or 5 brand new songs that have been written since our arrival home from Europe. We figure that since our next album may not be given an actual release date until early winter 2002/2003, we want to keep people tided over until then with another release of some sort. As of this posting, we have not decided on an engineer for this recording. Hydra Head will be releasing this material, which sounds quite different from what we plan on releasing on our next official album, on both CD and vinyl sometime in the summer.
FOR THOSE WITH ITCHY TYPING FINGERS
In the past 6 months, we have received many an email from people saying anything from 'hello', to 'we dig the jams' to 'your band is shit' to 'pretty smokin ELO cover at the concert last night' to 'since you guys are probably rotten wealthy now, send me a free "Jupiter" CD because my friend spilled clam juice on my copy and now it's ruined'... We really do appreciate you taking the time to write, and even though it's impossible for us to always give a response in return, rest assured we read EVERYTHING that is sent in!

DEMONSTRATING OUR PASSION FOR DEMOS
We've been spending the past couple weeks in our rehearsal space making demos for new versions of our ever-changing plethora of new tunes. We just can't let anything rest! Songs that have had a make-over in the past 2 weeks include "Breath of Water" (a bit shorter but sweeter), "Lost In The Air" (complete with some new James Brown drum breaks, we predict this version is 'the one'), "Inspire" (brand new!), "Joy Opposites", "Woodwork", "Seafrost", "Mouth In A Roam", and "Day Trader".
Here's some NEW NEW NEWS...
Articles on Cave In appear in recent issues of KERRANG! and ALTERNATIVE PRESS. Look to see close-up pics of our gear and pics of us in the stalls of crappy club bathrooms.
We have recently nominated RICH COSTEY as producer and engineer for our next album. Rich is a Vermont native who has worked on everything from Rage Against the Machine, Rival Schools and System Of A Down records to Fiona Apple and Jurrasic Five. As of this posting we plan to begin pre-production sometime in April, and begin recording shortly after our brief UK tour in May. The record is tentatively scheduled for an October release on RCA Records.
